King Senefru, father of King Cheops, built this Pyramid, also known as the Red Pyramid, approximately 4,600 years ago. Many scholars consider it to be more glorious than the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Return to Cairo and visit a Papyrus Institute on your way to your hotel for overnight.

Among other fascinating exhibits, see the treasures of the Tomb of Tutankhamen. Lunch en route. Continue to the Citadel and Mosque of Mohamad Ali and the streets of Khan el Khalili Bazaar. Return to your hotel for overnight.

DAY 4 - ALEXANDRIA
Drive to Alexandria. On your way, visit Wadi El Natroun, where the Holy Family passed on their way from Sakha. Wadi Natroun has been the site of many monasteries in spiritual commemoration of the Holy Family's passage through the valley. One of the monasteries you will visit is Al Sorian, where you can see the Gate of Prophecies and ancient Coptic buildings. Continue to Alexandria for overnight. Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt. The city was built by Alexander the Great on the site of a fishing village

DAY 5 - CAIRO
After breakfast, visit the church of St. Mark. "In that day there will be an altar to the lord in the midst of the land of Egypt; and a pillar to the lord, at its borders". The Church of St. Mark is built as the "pillar to the lord, at its borders". St. Mark initiated the spread of Christianity in Egypt beginning in Alexandria. Continue to the Catacombs, a remarkable example of the Alexandrian blend of Greco-Roman and Egyptian styles carved into 100ft. of solid rock. Lunch en route. Next, visit the newly opened Alexandria Library. (closed on Tuesdays.) In antiquity, the library at Alexandria was the largest and most important library in the world. In April 2002, the library was reopened with the ambition of reclaiming its former glory and prestige. Continue to Montazah Gardens and view the exterior of the Montazah Palace. Originially built in 1892, the standing palace dates from 1926 and was the Summer home of the Egyptian Royal Family. Drive back to Cairo for overnight.

DAY 6 - CAIRO
After breakfast, visit Old Cairo, among the most important locations visited by the Holy Family, where the spiritual impact of their presence is most felt still though their stay was brief. The governor of what was then Fustat - enraged by the tumbling down of idols at Jesus' approach - sought to kill the child. The Holy Family took shelter from his wrath in a cave above which the Church of Abou Serga (St. Sergius) was built. Visit this church and the whole area of the Fort of Babylon, a destination of pilgrimage not only for Egyptians but for Christians from around the world. An air of piety and devotion pervades the whole district. Lunch en route. Then visit the Coptic St. Mary Maadi Church. Coptic tradition tells that Moses was found on this spot. After their short but eventful stay in Old Cairo, the Holy Family moved to Maadi. Maadi was an outlying district of Memphis, the capital of Egypt in early Pharaonic times. The historic church built upon the spot from which they embarked is also dedicated to the Virgin. An event of miraculous import occurred on Friday the 3rd of the Coptic month of Baramhat - the 12th of March 1976 AD. A Holy Bible of unknown provenance was carried by the Nile to the bank below the church. It was open to the page of Isaiah 19:25, the page declaring "Blessed be Egypt My People". The Bible is now behind glass in the church's Sanctuary of the Virgin for all to see.

DAY 7 - ST. CATHERINE
After a very early breakfast, visit St. Mary Church in Zeitun. The Virgin Mary appeared on this spot on different occasions over several years. Most dramatic was in 1967 when thousands of believers and non-believers witnessed her appearance. Since then thousands of pilgrims flock to the site during the month of August (the month of Mary according to Coptic tradition) hoping to see her again and receive her blessings. Lunch en route. Depart Cairo for the Sinai Peninsula via the Suez Canal tunnel. On route, visit Eyoun Moussa (Moses' Spring), Hamam Pharaon, and the Church of Wadi Feiran. Arrive at St. Catherine for dinner and overnight

DAY 8 - CAIRO
Wake up at 3:30AM and climb the Mountain of Moses. It was on this mountain that Moses received the Ten Commandments. It lies south of St. Catherine's Monastery and rises to a height of 7,497 feet. From the top, experience the spectacular sunrise as the dawn breaks over this land of penetrating beauty and mystery. This hike is only for people who are very fit and experienced in hiking. Descend for breakfast at the hotel. Visit the monastery of St. Catherine, which sits at an altitude of 5,150 feet on the reputed site of the "Burning Bush". Commissioned by Emperor Justinian, the monastery was built between the years 527 and 565 in the name of the Alexandrine martyr who died in 307. In the afternoon, return to Cairo for overnight.

DAY 9 - CAIRO
You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
